'Stands full of GK kits' – Leeds United fans share love for new 'keeper shirt after kit launch

Leeds United fans have declared their love for the 2021/22 goalkeeper kit after it was revealed on the club website.

Kit reveals often spark debates and are a staple of the football fan calendar and it appears the blue Leeds goalkeeper shirt has outshone the traditional white home jersey this year.

Created using PrimeBlue, a sustainable performance fabric, its eccentric design has won admirers across the Whites fanbase amid mixed reactions to the new home shirt.

One fan suggested there will be 'stands full of goalkeeper kits', whilst another claimed they would be opting to buy it instead of the home shirt.

The eccentric design appears to be a hit with the Elland Road faithful and although it did not feature in the home kit reveal, is available to purchase on the official club website.

Supporters have more reveals to look forward to as the away and third kits are yet to be released.

Last year's bold decision to release a maroon third strip demonstrated that the club and suppliers Adidas are partial to unorthodox designs and colours, something also shown by the striking 2021/22 goalkeeper shirt.

This season marks the second campaign for which Adidas have supplied kits to the club, after a five-year partnership with Italian designers Kappa was ended last year.

Leeds will be hoping there is a new wearer of the shirt soon as they continue to hunt for a goalkeeper following Kiko Casilla's loan switch to Elche.

Illan Meslier remains an obvious selection as first-choice goalkeeper but there is little competition and reports suggest Leeds are pressing on with their pursuit of Norway under-21s stopper Kristoffer Klaesson.

There have also been links to Newcastle United's Freddie Woodman, although the former Swansea City loanee reportedly rejected an approach from the Whites.

It is expected Leeds will unveil their away kit before the beginning of the 2021/22 Premier League season on 14 August, a date on which Marcelo Bielsa's side will visit Old Traffiord to face bitter rivals Manchester United.
