Man arrested and gun found after standoff at Royal Liverpool Hospital

Police have arrested a man and recovered a gun after a 12 hour stand off outside of the Royal Liverpool University Hospital today.

Officers were called to Prescot Street after reports of concern for the safety of a man outside the hospital.

A Merseyside spokesperson told the ECHO: "We can confirm that a man has been detained and a firearm recovered following an incident at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital today, Thursday 4 November.

CCTV shows moment woman glassed total stranger in the face

CCTV footage captured the shocking moment a woman approached a complete stranger in a city centre bar and glassed him in the face.

The film was played at Liverpool Crown Court at the sentencing of Katie Murphy, of Stonyfield, Netherton, last week.

Oddly the CCTV footage shows that few people in the bar seemed to notice what had just taken place, and they carry on drinking and talking as if nothing had happened.

Chris Hopkins, who prosecuted the case, told the court that Mr Walker "bled profusely and was left with a jagged wound. He was taken to hospital and needed four internal stitches and 10 external stitches above his right eye."

Merseyside Police officers investigated over 'derogatory' messages and pictures

Two Merseyside Police officers are facing disciplinary action over allegations linked to "derogatory" messages and images.

A special constable is the subject of claims he sent "offensive and untrue" material to a member of the public.

And a PC is separately accused of breaching professional standards.

Merseyside Police has released details of two enquiries set to be considered by misconduct panels in the coming weeks.
