Standalone: Rooftop rice Web: Rice seedlings get planted in building's rooftop paddy in Tokyo

Caretakers plant rice seedlings in a paddy located in a rooftop garden about 45 meters above the ground at Roppongi Hills in Minato Ward, Tokyo, on Saturday. An annual rice-planting event had been held for Roppongi Hills residents and neighbors to deepen bonds prior to the spread of the coronavirus. However, since last year, only caretakers of the rice paddy participate in the event. The seedlings planted were Hoshizora Mai, an original variety developed in Tottori Prefecture over a period of about 30 years.
