Pool plunge ends stand-off as juvenile detainees dance on roof, smash windows and air-cons

The detainee jumped into the pool to get off the roof.

A stand-off at a juvenile justice centre in western Sydney has ended with a detainee crawling across a razor wire fence and jumping into a pool.

At least three boys were seen on the roof of the Cobham Juvenile Justice Centre in Werrington just after 1.00pm.

It's understood they punched through a window in a class room to gain access to the roof.

Police, firefighters and ambulance arrived on scene as the detainees could be seen walking on the centre's roof, smashing windows and air-conditioners.

The teenagers then took their shirts off, threw footballs from the roof and one even began dancing.

After around 60 minutes two of the boys climbed down from the roof and were immediately detained by police.

The third detainee eventually crawled along a fence, which was surrounded by razor wire.

As dozens of police and detention centre employees looked on, he took his shoes off and leapt into the detention centre's pool.

Police in riot gear lifted the boy lifted him from the water, handcuffed him and walked him inside the building.

The centre has 120 beds and is for males over the age of 15.

It is understood if the detainees involved are over the age of the 18 they will be moved to an adult prison.

A Department of Communities and Justice spokesperson said: "Youth Justice staff and Corrective Services responded to an incident at Cobham Youth Justice Centre.

"The incident has been safely resolved."
