Stan Kroenke quizzed on failed transfer plan as Edu repeats 'ghost' signing Arsenal 'don't want'

Just imagine Mikel Arteta was doing his weekly online food shopping order and he wanted to buy some milk but instead of getting the milk that he ordered, the Spaniard got bottled water and even then retailer took it back anyway, telling him they won't give it back until the summer.

Well, that's exactly what happened on deadline day; the Arsenal boss placed his order for a striker, he got a centre-half instead but can't even make use of the defender until the summer anyway.

The only player that the north Londoners were able to sign during the January transfer window was 23-year-old centre-half Auston Trusty, who joined from MLS side Colorado Rapids.

Trusty will spend the rest of the season on loan before joining up with Arteta's squad in the summer, leaving more questions unanswered for the Arsenal hierarchy.

So, Tom Canton and Bailey Keogh spoke live on The Arsenal Way 'Agenda' show to delve into the Gunners' mysterious deadline day arrival.

Keogh explained why he thinks Trusty will be a 'ghost' signing for the north Londoners, suggesting that the defender's arrival could just be a business or marketing ploy by the owners.

"I think it's going to be a ghost signing, I actually don't think he'll make an appearance for Arsenal. It's be a bit like Cohen Bramall when he signed a few years back from a non-league side and just went on a few loans," he said.

"It was definitely a Kroenke signing, I know he's got links to the Colorado Rapids. I think he'll just keep going out on loan until he can get a move in Europe. I think that's the goal for MLS players - to come to Europe and get a move."

"I'm happy for him as a player. It's a big move, a career changer, so hopefully he can benefit off that - I don't think Arsenal will see too much of him but for him it's a good move."

Canton agreed with Keogh and then highlighted how the timing of Trusty's arrival squashed Arsenal fans' hope of the club signing someone before the window slammed shut.

"From the personal perspective of the player, congratulations to him and we wish him the absolute best. We back him to succeed but, look, it's not what we were after, it's not what we wanted," he said.

"He may have signed that day, it may have all been sorted but just the timing of it is just so perfectly annoying for us as Arsenal fans to see it pop up at that time when we didn't really know that was happening either.

"We've seen the Calum Chambers come out of nowhere, the Mat Ryan deal of course came out of nowhere."

"There's always that hope that maybe just something would pop up on the website and let us know that Arsenal would sign someone but it wasn't to be and and now we're in a situation where we are going to be very light."
