Stan Kroenke message explained as Arsenal and Mikel Arteta discover Dayot Upamecano's stance

Here's all the news from around the Emirates Stadium over the past 24 hours.

Arsenal transfer blow

Arsenal have suffered a transfer blow with the news that they are not Dayot Upamecano's first option this summer.

The highly-rated centre-back has been heavily linked with the Gunners and has been labelled one of Mikel Arteta's top transfer targets this summer.

Yet Bild's Christian Falk has reported that the Gunners are not Upamecano's first option this summer.

Fans explain banner

The fans that flew a banner over Arsenal's defeat to Aston Villa calling for Stan Kroenke to leave the club have explained their reasons for doing so.

The banner, which read "Back Arteta, Kroenke out", garnered plenty of attention, with even Mikel Arteta commenting on it in his post-match interview on Sky.

Caheen Shamzer, a member of the group of supporters who funded the banner, wants to see more accountability in the club's hierarchy.

He said: “If the owners addressed the fans directly and said because of COVID-19 we have this pot of money to spend then we can understand. If they explain the budget we will feel involved and engaged but there’s such a distance between us and the Kroenkes.

“No-one is accountable. We don’t want to accept these things any more, we don’t want to see situations like Aubameyang. It’s going to get to the point where the club have to dish out another £350,000-a-week to keep him or we lose him for nothing.”

Torreira dismal

Lucas Torreira endured a horror show in midfield during the defeat to Aston Villa.

He was shackled early on after a late tackle on Connor Hourihane and seemed to lose confidence as the half went on, almost gifting Villa a goal.

The midfielder was replaced at half-time after having a tough night.
