Stan Kroenke has already fixed one of Mikel Arteta's biggest Arsenal problems with key signing

Arsenal are undergoing a summer of change at the Emirates, with staff alterations made alongside player incomings and departures as the Gunners prepare for next season.

Various links are emerging with potential signings, but news surrounding a change to Mikel Arteta's backroom staff has been released, with Nicolas Jover replacing Andreas Georgson at the club.

Georgson left for Malmo, with Jover arriving from Manchester City, Arteta's former employers dating back to his time as an assistant to Pep Guardiola.

Jover was picked up by City in 2019, with the Frenchman leaving his coaching role as part of Brentford's setup but crucially, he's recognised as a set-pieces expert.

One of the reasons he joined the Etihad club was said to be to improve their productivity from corners and free-kicks, with the Gunners now potentially set to profit from his presence.

Last season, Arsenal were one of the worst performing teams from those situations, with just two Premier League goals scored from completed dead-ball passes, which was the joint-worst in the division.

West Ham United, by contrast, placed top with as many as 13, followed by Everton on nine and four sides on seven.

The story was not simply a case of bad finishing, as Arsenal generated just 40 shots from completed dead-ball passes, which again placed them bottom of the Premier League, behind Sheffield United's 41 and Leicester City's 44.

West Ham again ranked top on 83, followed by Chelsea on 82 and Aston Villa on 81, with Arsenal producing less than half of their totals.

Given that football is a low-scoring sport, scoring from set-pieces can be highly beneficial when it comes to securing results, but the Gunners seemingly need to dedicate more work to them on the training field.

Players are also essential; perhaps the Emirates side have to begin thinking about adding players with quality who can also contribute around set-pieces with strong deliveries or aerial prowess.

Jover's impact is likely to drift under the radar but considering Arteta already has a relationship with him dating back to his previous role, it is reasonable to suggest that the Spaniard is searching for a subtle means of adding goals ahead of next season.
