Stan Kroenke and Vinai Venkatesham's stance on Mikel Arteta amid Arsenal sack claim

There is growing pressure on Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta following the Gunners' 1-0 home defeat to Burnley.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s own goal gave the Clarets all three points in Sunday's Premier League clash at the Emirates Stadium.

The result has left Arsenal 15th in the table after 12 matches - only five points clear of the relegation zone.

Questions are being raised about Arteta's future, with former Tottenham striker Darren Bent suggesting the Spaniard's
"time is up", and for Arsenal to sack the former Manchester City coach.

Arsenal 0 - 1 Burnley: Mikel Arteta post-match press conference

So, what is Arsenal's stance on their current manager?

Chief executive Vinai Venkatesham recently gave Arteta a public vote of confidence, telling The Times: "With Mikel we have got a number of things.

"You’ve got an individual who has extraordinary experience in the Premier League across his time at Arsenal, Everton, Man City and then back at Arsenal.

"You have got a guy that loves this club and understands what it means to play for this club, and he was obviously captain here. You’ve got a guy who is a real team player.

"The team he’s formed with Edu (technical director), and also his technical staff, is really, really strong.

"You’ve got a guy who is absolutely driven to succeed and be successful on the pitch, but doing it in a way that respects our history and traditions.

"So I think with him we have got a really, really powerful individual."

Arteta himself has previously spoken about his positive relationship with the owners of the club - Kroenke Sports and Entertainment (KSE) - and the Kroenke family.

"I can make a phone call and speak to (the Kroenkes) and they have been very, very supportive from the first day that I joined the club," he said in July.

Meanwhile, football.london reporter Chris Wheatley wrote in the wake of the Burnley defeat: "Mikel Arteta has plenty of good will from within the club which should not be understated.

"That has built up by his immense success in the early parts of his reign.

"Within the space of one year in the job the Spaniard has already won the FA Cup and Community Shield and pulled off impressive victories over Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United.

"KSE and the Kroenke family do have full faith in Arteta's project but that faith won't last forever. It's certainly not expected to last for months either.

"Losing senior players in a dressing room environment has a wider effect on everyone at the club and while many are expected to leave in the summer, the result of being unable to manage relationships to the required level is now being seen at the club with the results."
