Stan Collymore wades in on Derby County crisis with Wycombe jibe

Nottingham Forest favourite Stan Collymore has delivered his verdict on the troubles down the A52 at Derby County.

Derby fans woke up to a statement from the EFL released at 11.30pm on Wednesday detailing the decision from an independent disciplinary commission to fine the club £100,000.

That was relating to the breach of a rule regarding financial fair play and the amortisation of a players' value across the length of his contract.

Derby were originally found not to have acted against FFP rules but an appeal has subsequently found them guilty.

Tellingly, the verdict was delivered on the eve of the release of the 2021-22 fixtures release.

Forest play Derby on August 28 at Pride Park and the reverse fixture is on January 22 but in place of Wayne Rooney's side could be Wycombe Wanderers.

That is because a points deduction could still be levied at Derby and that would relegate them to League One and keep Wycombe in the second tier after they were relegated after Rooney's men stayed up on the final day of the season.

"The EFL can confirm that it has developed an interchangeable fixture list for Derby County and Wycombe Wanderers, while the disciplinary process is finalised," part of the EFL's statement read.

Now Collymore, who has developed a long-standing feud with Derby fans, has offered his take on the situation.

Upon the release of Forest's full fixture schedule, he took to social media.

Writing on Twitter, he said: "Derby County at home on my birthday. You know what to do."

He then followed up that message with: "Or Wycombe of course," with a smirking face emoji.
