Stan Collymore touts Allan Saint-Maximin to join 'upwardly mobile club'

Former Liverpool striker, now pundit, Stan Collymore has tipped Newcastle talisman Allan Saint-Maximin for a move away from Tyneside.

Collymore has been impressed by what he's seen from Saint-Maximin and believes other, "upwardly mobile" Premier League clubs, should be taking a look at the 24-year-old.

The Frenchman was impressive for the Magpies in their defeat to West Ham on the opening day of the season, showing great footwork and delivery to pick out Callum Wilson for Newcastle's opener.

In fact, Collymore name drops last weekend's opponents as a possible destination for the Magpies forward.

He said in the Mirror’s print edition : “I like Allan Saint-Maximin – he has pace, skills and attitude.

“If I were in charge of recruitment at an upwardly mobile club such as West Ham, Everton, Leeds or Aston Villa I’d take a punt on him. Newcastle have done their dough on Joe Willock.

“And, if the second half of their game against West Ham is anything to go by, the Geordies need to stiffen up their defensive unit and maybe therefore be tempted with a cash deal.”

Newcastle have no plans to sell Saint-Maximin this summer with the former Nice winger integral to their plans this season.

In May, the Daily Mail claimed that any potential suitors would have to make an offer in the region of £70million to make Newcastle consider selling the former Saint-Etienne forward.
