Stan Collymore's delivers verdict on Leeds United as he talks up promotion rivals

We are just a day away from the new Championship season as Leeds United and their promotion rivals get ready for ten months of hard graft in English football's second tier.

The Whites are able to call again on the services of Marcelo Bielsa after the Argentine quickly signed up for a second season at Elland Road, hell bent on going one better than last year, when he guided his side to a third place finish and subsequent play-off defeat.

This continuity and acquisitions such as the club's headline summer signing Helder Costa mean that Leeds will start the season as the bookies' favourites.

Ahead of Middlesbrough's trip to Luton Town on Friday night which will kick off the new campaign, plenty of pundits have been offering their verdict on how the season will pan out.

Stan Collymore is never short of an opinion, in the past, but Whites fans will be encouraged by his pre-season precitions.

"Fulham and Leeds are my tips for gaining automatic promotion to Prem from the Championship this season," he writes in his Sunday People column this week.

"I pick Fulham because of their be squad and Leeds because Marcelo Bielsa will make sure they bounce back from the disappointment they faced the end of the last campaign.

"Then, I reckon it will be one of Cardiff, Huddersfield, Nottingham Forest, Stoke or Middlesbrough via the play-offs."

Scott Parker's Fulham side have managed to hold onto the majority of their side that were relegated from the Premier League last season as well adding wingers Ivan Cavaleiro and Anthony Knockaert on loan from Wolves and Brighton respectively for the campaign.

Leeds kick off their effort to end their 15-year exile from the Premier League with a trip to Bristol City on Sunday.
