Stan Collymore's brilliant response after BBC doggers slip goes viral

Former Nottingham Forest striker Stan Collymore has brilliantly shown his humorous side - after poking fun at himself following a live cock-up on BBC Breakfast.

BBC weather presenter Carol Kirkwood was left red-faced after telling stunned viewers she had seen "lots of doggers" in a park today.

However, after quickly realising her gaffe, she added: "Not doggers! Not doggers, of course. Lots of dog walkers and joggers."

The broadcaster was in Greenwich Park, "one of the oldest enclosed royal parks", she told viewers on Monday, August 10.

The embarrassing clip went viral after being viewed by millions, with Carol later apologising by telling her 181,700 Twitter followers: "That will teach me to try and say joggers and dog walkers in the same sentence!!! Sorry! xxx."

Collymore, meanwhile, was quick to react to this morning's harmless error in reference to his self-proclaimed dogging past after he begged for forgiveness back in 2004 after he admitted visiting “dogging” sites to have sex with strangers.

The former England forward explained how he had confessed to his wife that he had driven to several sites where people watch each other having sex in their cars.

“What I have done is disgusting and I’m so ashamed, but I’m only human,” Collymore, then 33, said. “I can only beg for forgiveness.

“Over the last couple of years I have been to dogging sites maybe a dozen to 15 times, and yes I have taken part and had sex during them.

“My only hope is that the people I know and love can find it in their hearts to forgive me.”

Fast-forward 16 years and Collymore, now 49, responded in hilarious fashion to the BBC 'dogging' mistake by posting a popular GIF of Homer Simpson scaling back into a bush.
