Stan Collymore reveals Nottingham Forest chairman's invitation

Former Nottingham Forest striker Stan Collymore will be in attendance for the Championship game against Derby County, as a guest of chairman Nicholas Randall.

Forest take on the Rams early next year with the two sides looking to break a run of four straight 1-1 draws.

The Reds will now be cheered on by an extra fan at the City Ground with Collymore revealing on social media that he will be at the game.

“Delighted to accept the Chairman's invitation to the January 22nd @NFFC home game at the City Ground which just happens to be my birthday too,” he wrote on Twitter.

“Against Derby County.”

The striker spent two seasons with Forest between the years of 1993 and 1995, scoring a total of 22 goals in 37 appearances for the club.

He signed for Liverpool in the summer of 1995, going onto play for Aston Villa and Leicester City later in his career.

The former striker confirmed earlier this month that he has returned to former club Southend United as a senior football strategist.

Collymore will be a guest of Randall at the East Midlands derby with both teams looking to move up the Championship table.

Forest have had an upturn in form since the arrival of Steve Cooper as manager with the Reds currently in 13th place in the league.

Derby, meanwhile, sit at the bottom of the table due to a points deduction given to them after entering administration. There is still the possibility of Forest’s rivals being given a further points deduction, putting their Championship status at the end of the season in major doubt.
