Stan Collymore demands severe punishment for Manchester United and Liverpool amid Super League plans

Nottingham Forest favourite Stan Collymore says Manchester United and Liverpool should have their titles expunged as punishment for their part in plans to create a new European Super League.

Twelve clubs have so far agreed to join as founding members of the tournament, with three more expected to also sign up, which will eventually feature 20 teams as an annual midweek competition to rival the Champions League.

The Premier League’s so-called ‘big six’ are all part of the plans, which have sparked outrage across the English game and around Europe.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain, Collymore shared the disgust of the majority of football fans over the controversial plans.

“I played for Stafford Rangers in the old Conference, Southend United in the Championship, Liverpool, Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa – three former winners of what is now the Champions League,” said Collymore.

“I echo the comments of all football fans when they say they are saddened, disgusted, particularly with the gatekeepers; Manchester United and Liverpool.

“I will be quite frank, Manchester City, Arsenal and Tottenham, there’s nothing super about them in their recent history other than having money.

“The big two should know better. UEFA, FIFA, the Premier League and La Liga today should be expunging all of their titles, kick them out and tell them they’re not welcome.”
