Stan Collymore delivers verdict on Chris Hughton replacing Sabri Lamouchi at Nottingham Forest

Stan Collymore has delivered his verdict on his former club appointing Chris Hughton as manager to replace Sabri Lamouchi.

Hughton was swiftly brought in after Lamouchi was sacked, following the Reds' poor start to the Championship season.

The Frenchman became Forest manager in June 2019 but after missing out on the play-offs at the end of last season and four defeats in four at the start of the current campaign, Forest decided to pull the trigger.

The vastly experienced Hughton, whose most recent job was with Brighton and Hove Albion, has now been given the responsibility of getting the club back on track.

It's a move which has gained the approval of former Reds striker Collymore, who was at the City Ground between 1993 and 1995.

Writing on Twitter, the 49 year old said: "Delighted that Chris Hughton has the Forest job.

"A good coach and manager who hopefully will bring stability, confidence and experience to a wonderful football club.

"Sending him and all Trickies lots of positivity and best wishes."

Hughton's first game will be away at Blackburn Rovers on Saturday, October, 17, following the international break.
