Stalker pretended to be victim's partner and waited for her outside ladies toilet

A man who carried out a two-week stalking campaign, even lurking outside the ladies for his victim, has been warned he will be hit with a restraining order.

John Storey, of Bradley Road, Prudhoe, launched a campaign against his victim after he received treatment from her to assist with his learning difficulties.

South East Northumberland Magistrates' Court heard that during a two week period he called her 18 times, pretending to be doctor and even her partner, to dupe the woman into speaking to him - and he even waited outside the ladies toilet for her.

A victim impact statement read to the court said: "I honestly don't know what John is capable of."He said he knew where I lived."

The 29-year-old also threatened to slash her tyres while she was at work and left her feeling unsafe in her own home. Eve McDonnell, prosecuting, said: "He had grown more and more fixated with her

"He would wait and stand outside the toilet for her."

In mitigation, it was claimed Storey can become "over attached to people".

Jonathan Stirland, defending, said: "It's a distressing case," admitted Storey's solicitor .

"(But) he did the right thing in pleading guilty."

Storey, who was supported in court by his parents, will next appear in court on July 31 and psychiatric reports are being prepared ahead of sentence

District Judge Bernard Begley imposed extra conditions including not to contact his victim.

He warned Storey: "I leave all options until I have the full picture."
