NEW DELHI: A 24-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly opening fire on a woman after she turned down his proposal in northwest Delhi’s Mukherjee Nagar. The man has been booked for attempting murder. The arrested man has been identified as Deepak Bhati, a resident of Vijay Vihar in Loni, Ghaziabad.
On Thursday, a call was received at Mukherjee Nagar police station that a woman has been shot by someone. “The victim was identified as a 21-year-old who had been admitted to Hindu Rao Hospital with two gunshot injuries. An FIR of attempt to murder was registered and investigation taken up. Our team traced location of the suspect,” said a senior police officer. When the police team reached there, Bhati tried to flee on his bike but was arrested after a long chase. He told the cops that he was in one-sided love affair with the woman. TNN
