Stalker dodges jail after three-month hate campaign

Kyle Sproule, 25, threatened to kill his former partner’s new boyfriend, burn down her home and take her son away from her.

Sproule, of Kirkbride Crescent, Crosshill, appeared at Ayr Sheriff Court on Tuesday, October 1, for sentencing.

At a previous hearing, he pleaded guilty to a catalogue of stalking behaviour.

Between April 23 and July 17, at the Co-op in High Street, Maybole, Abbott Street, Maybole and elsewhere, Sproule engaged in a course of conduct which was abusive of his ex-partner.

When the case recalled for sentencing, Sproule was handed a two-year community payback order which involves supervision.

Sproule must also attend the Caledonia Programme, which works with men convicted of domestic abuse offences.

A two-year non harassment order was also imposed on Sproule, meaning he cannot approach, or attempt to contact his ex.
