Rangers fanatic claims she is victim after stalking couple she met through love of Ibrox team

A stalker who tried to ruin an innocent couple’s lives has posted a bleating statement claiming she is the victim.

Within days of being freed just three months into a 12-month sentence, Jill Sharp, 33, released a version of events that falsely puts the blame on her victims Maggie and Steve Paton.

Despite being jailed for conducting a hate campaign from January 2014 to August 2017, Sharp told Facebook friends her only crime was to retaliate after “false” stories were printed about her.

But the Record’s revelations about claims Sharp, of Airdrie, created a fictional romance between her and a “fiance”, who was oblivious to her existence, were published in February 2017 – three years after she started to torment the Patons.

Sharp’s latest ravings were posted after we revealed yesterday that she had been celebrating her early release by quaffing champagne.

She denied her crimes, adding: “However, I am guilty of retaliating to the fake news stories which were printed about me in 2017.”

Maggie and Sharp met through a shared love of Rangers FC.

But after Maggie and Steven got engaged, Sharp used fake social media accounts to spread false claims about them, telling their friends, family and employers that they were drug dealers.

This article has been amended to make clear that the information relating to Graham Mcquet are claims.
