Stale Solbakken reveals Celtic Europa League clash shaped his transfer window blueprint

Stale Solbakken has fronted up that he's already got this month's Europa League clash with Celtic in mind as his side get set to return to action after an extended winter break.

The men from the East-end will play against the Danish outfit later this month and will be hoping to cash in on their opponent's lack of game time after a two month lay-off from competitive matches after Copenhagen finally return to league action this Friday.

But former Wolves boss Solbakken has revealed he strengthened his squad in the transfer window by signing veteran defender Ragnar Sigurdsson and young striker Mikkel Kaufmann because he's expecting a hectic schedule if they defeat Neil Lennon's side.

He said: "If we beat Celtic in the Europa League, we will have to play matches every three days for quite a long time.

"So the transfer window went as we planned to a certain extent

"We know we have two players who have been injured - Dame N'Doye and Jonas Wind and they are progressing well, but we wanted to be sure we had enough numbers.

"We had the option of getting Mikkel Kaufmann on board now and we have the chance to get him involved and with Ragnar Sigurdsson it was very simple - we were lucky to just go with our two main central defenders for the season so far, but the matches will come thick and fast, so we need cover.

"Competition in the squad is very important because it's going to be a very busy period for the club."
