A marketer who launched her own business during lockdown has been chosen to work on a new project to help companies recover from Covid-19.
Kirsty Nelms, from Brereton in Staffordshire, set up Peacock Digital Marketing in July, offering social media advertising, copywriting and PR, web development and design services.
Now she is working with the Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire Growth Hub to promote two grant funds launched to support Small to Medium businesses (SMEs) in the county.
The 31-year-old, who was previously a journalist before working for a marketing agency, said:
"I pitched for the project alongside other marketing agencies and was honoured to be given this exciting opportunity."
"Setting up a business during a recession and a pandemic has certainly been a trial by fire, but it’s also been one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done. I’m pleased to be in a position to help other businesses during these difficult times.
"A lot of people have had more time to reassess their lives and ambitions during lockdown and they are finally taking action.
“We’ve had this horrendous situation that is completely beyond our control and I think many people have sought to gain back a bit more control over their lives in whatever way possible."
