Staffordshire dental practice under new ownership

A Staffordshire dental practice is under new ownership after it was sold for an undisclosed sum.

Keen Dental Care, in Biddulph, was previously owned by Dr Fiona Cuthill and Dr Julian Keen, who took over the business in 2008.

The pair decided to sell to give them more time to spend with their family, but they will remain at the practice for 'many more years to come.'

It has been sold to Dr Sanraj Dulay, who also owns Dore Dental Care in Sheffield.

Dr Cuthill said: "Julian and I tendered for the contract in autumn 2007, whilst both working as associates in Cheshire, and opened as a squat on September 1, 2008. Initially there were just the two of us, but we soon took in a therapist and expanded the practice from there.

"We decided to sell as we wanted to enjoy spending more time with our children and also to look at specialising in other areas of dentistry such as facial aesthetics. We are very much looking forward to working with Sanraj and his team whilst they develop the practice as part of their group. We found the whole sale process quite smooth, despite being in the middle of a worldwide pandemic."

Dr Dulay said: "Keen Dental Care is an exceptional practice which has been run and developed brilliantly by Julian and Fiona. It is not too far from our sister practice in Dore, Sheffield and, across the two sites, we hope to have a specialist in-house referral system whereby we can treat patients of all needs, from check-ups to complex implant and restorative cases.

"The practice has an excellent reputation, fantastic patient base, great dentists and staff. I plan on keeping the practice operating as it is, with the addition of more specialist services. Julian and Fiona are an integral part of the team at Keen Dental Care and have plans to stay at the practice for many more years to come. I am really looking forward to working with them."

Jonathan Watson, from specialist business property adviser Christie & Co, handled the sale which was funded through Christie Finance.

He said: "It was great to see the deal complete in a quick time frame given the current situation and the fact that the purchaser was acquiring his second practice in a short space of time. The parties and their advisers worked positively and collaboratively to ensure the transaction ran smoothly throughout. It was a pleasure to work with Fiona and Julian and I am excited to see the direction in which Sanraj takes the practice over the next few years."
