Staffordshire collision: four injured including two children after car collides with pedestrians near school

Four people including two children were injured today after a car collided with a group of pedestrians near a school in Staffordshire.

Emergency services scrambled to the scene in Springhill Road, Burntwood near Crannock at 8.36am on Thursday.

Paramedics treated four pedestrians along with the driver and passenger of the car following the crash, West Midlands Ambulance Service said in a statement.

Ambulance staff were told by bystanders that the driver, a woman, had suffered a medical episode prior to the collision.

She was taken to Walsall Manor Hospital for further assessment, while a girl who was passenger in the car was discharged at the scene.

Four pedestrians including two women, a boy and a girl were injured in the incident.

A woman and the two children were taken to hospital as a precaution for injuries not believed to be serious.

While the second woman was discharged at the scene with minor injuries.

Lichfield Police tweeted: "A road traffic collision on Springhill Road, Burntwood this morning has resulted in two children and two adults receiving only minor injuries.

"The driver also received medical attention and no arrests have been made. Please avoid the area whilst the vehicle is recovered."
