Stafford placed on Reserve/COVID list, still could play vs. Vikings

The Lions have placed quarterback Matthew Stafford on the Reserve/COVID list.

Stafford didn’t test positive, but was around someone who did and thus has to sit out five days and test negative in eligible to return to the field.

That five days puts his first day to come back on Sunday, which happens to be when the Lions play the Vikings.

If Stafford can’t play, Chase Daniel will get the start for the Lions.

This is a big game for both teams. Both are trying to keep their playoff hopes alive. The Vikings go into the game with a 2-5 record while the Lions are 3-4.

On the season, Stafford has thrown for 1,916 yards, 13 touchdowns and five interceptions.

The Lions are already expected to be without star wide receiver Kenny Golladay (hip).
