'Staff party' at Premier Inn hotel claims being probed after pictures emerge

A probe has been launched into claims that hotel staff had a leaving party for a colleague amid coronavirus restrictions.

Pictures appear to show workers at the Premier Inn standing closely at the bash which is said to have happened at the Holyhead hotel on Anglesey, on Friday, January 29.

North Wales Live has obtained a picture appearing to show a lack of social distancing with a spokesman for the firm telling the site that it was being investigated.

All of the hotels in Wales are closed with strict rules in place against any gathering.

Similar to Scotland and other parts of the UK, in Wales people can not meet in large groups and any workplaces open have to have social distancing measures among others.

A spokesman for Premier Inn said: “Our Holyhead hotel is currently closed in line with current government guidance.

"We have clear safety procedures in place for our team members to follow.

"We are investigating the circumstances surrounding this gathering and speaking with the team members involved.”
