Staff were left terrified yesterday after armed robbers held up a bookies in north Dublin.
The shocking incident happened at around 6.30pm in Baldoyle, at the Ladbrokes shop located next to the Racecourse Inn pub.
The thieves are believed to have tried to take a sum of cash during the attempt, which happened next to a busy shopping area that includes a Lidl, newsagents and florists.
The shop is understood to have been preparing to close at the time that the robbery took place.
A garda spokesman told Dublin Live: "Gardaí are investigating a robbery of a premises in Baldoyle, Dublin 13 that occurred at approximately 6.45pm on Wednesday 15 January 2020.
"The incident occurred when a man entered the premises with what’s believed to be a firearm and threatened staff. It’s understood nothing was taken and no persons were injured.
"No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing."
Further calls for a northside crime taskforce have been made following the shocking incident.
Labour Senator Aodhain O Riordain said: "Criminal activity is out of control. We need a northside crime taskforce."
