A thug threatened staff at knifepoint before making off with a three-figure sum of money during an East Lothian robbery.
Police have launched a manhunt following the incident this afternoon at a newsagents in North Berwick.
Around 2pm emergency services were called to Sweet News on High Street in North Berwick.
The incident has been described as “very frightening” for staff who were threatened with a knife before the man ran off with the cash.
The suspect is described as white, 5 ft 5 in height, of slight build.
He was wearing a black coat with a hood, a black face covering and black trousers/jogging bottoms.
Inspector David Hughes, North Berwick Police Station, said: "Thankfully no one was injured as a result of this robbery, however, it was a very frightening experience for the staff in the store.
"The High Street is very busy around this time and there were a good number of people about, so I would ask that anyone, who has not yet come forward to police, get in touch as their information could be very helpful to our enquiry.
"We know that there were a couple of delivery drivers in the street and also a coach passing at the time. We'd be keen to see any dash-cam footage they may have.
