Staff at Tesco Shettleston self-isolating after colleague tests positive for coronavirus

A number of staff at a Tesco Extra store in Shettleston are self-isolating after a colleague tested positive for coronavirus.

Tesco confirmed to Glasgow Live that a "very small number" are having to remain at home following news of the positive test, and that they are taking the relevant precaution and Government guidance.

The colleague in question is believed to have been a bakery worker at the east end store, with the bakery area undergoing an additional deep clean following the positive test result.

It is understood that fellow staff members were informed of the situation at the time.

A Tesco Spokesperson said: “A very small number of colleagues at our Tesco store in Shettleston are self-isolating after one colleague tested positive for Covid-19.

"The safety of our colleagues, customers and suppliers remains our number one priority and we are following all Government guidance and taking the relevant precautions.

"We have extensive measures across all of our stores to help keep everyone safe, including protective screens at every checkout, social distancing signage and regular deep cleaning.”
