Stack Seaburn announces opening date just in time for August Bank Holiday

Customers finally will be able to celebrate the opening of Stack Seaburn which will launch just in time for first customers to enjoy the late August Bank Holiday weekend.

The new £2.5m container village, a sister set-up to Stack in Newcastle, had been due to open in the spring until the coronavirus crisis brought construction work to a halt.

But it has now re-started and preparations are busily under way for its opening on August 28.

Following Boris Johnson's announcement that the hospitality industry can start emerging from lockdown on July 4, the Stack team - which had been awaiting the update- was able to reveal that builders are back at work on the Sunderland coast preparing the site.

In a post on its Facebook page, where it shared images of the constuction work - on what is said to be a village of 87 shipping containers containing bars, steet food stalls and shops - Stack said it was "delighted" at the Government news for the hospitality industry and thanked customers for their patience.

It added: "We can now share that the builders are back on site and we aim to open Stack Seaburn on Friday, August 28, just in time for the summer bank holiday!"

Monday, August 31 is the second of the month's two Bank Holidays, with the first being Monday, August 3.

The post received more than 700 comments from customers eager to see Stack Seaburn make its debut.

It describes itself as "an eco-friendly answer to urban development and regeneration, creating a destination for unforgettable experiences on the Sunderland seafront".

Stack in Newcastle is also gearing up to welcome customers, having said on Tuesday that it is due to reveal its reopening plans over the next few days.
