When we look back at it — heck, even looking now, you could easily make a case that Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields is the best to ever sling the ball around the field on the banks of the Olentangy. Unfortunately (but also, fortunately), we only got one full season of watching the 2019 Heisman Finalist do his thing in the Scarlet and Gray.
We got an encore last season, but it was a bizarre, shortened one in which Ohio State only played just five regular-season games, then had to try and figure a way to beat both Clemson and Alabama in the College Football Playoff without key players because of COVID-19 protocols.
Behind Fields, the Bucks almost pulled it off, administering a public flogging to Clemson and Dabo Swinney’s mouth as “the No. 11 team” in the country. The Tide was an entirely different story though, as OSU just wasn’t the better team.
Still, as we reflect back on Fields’ sensational, albeit abbreviated career at Ohio State, there were some phenomenal games, otherworldly highlights, and monumental plays and games to remember.
We thought it would be fun to take all 22 of his games and stack rank them based on performance. Yeah, it’s mostly all opinion, but the nice thing about competitive sports, there are also some stats to rely upon, so we’ll be doing just that.
