Stack Newcastle clarifies social distancing rules after busy Saturday

Stack has clarified its social distancing rules after a busy first Saturday after lockdown.

The hugely popular shipping container in the centre of Newcastle, re-opened on Monday, July 6, a few days after many other hospitality venues opened following months out of action due to the coronavirus pandemic.

If you've ever been to Stack before, you'll know that Saturdays are particularly busy, with queues often forming outside as people clamour to get a seat on one of its benches as live acts take to the stage to entertain.

Taking to Facebook on Saturday evening, Stack revealed that all of its benches were filled "three times over," with walk ups "accommodated where possible."

They posted a video which saw groups of people on the same benches leading to some accusations that social distancing wasn't being adhered to but Stack replied in the comments with clarification on how people can be seated at benches while sticking to social distancing measures.

Groups of up to 10 can have one bench as long as from only two households, and up to 6 guests from a number of different households.

Everyone will have their own bench unless in smaller groups, where Stack say they can fit 3 groups of 2 on one bench while still adhering to the 1 metre distance rule.

Stack say people's numbers and household situations are checked when booking a table and again on arrival.
