Stacey Solomon unveils staircase transformation as Pickle Cottage renovations continue

Stacey Solomon is continuing to work on transforming her new mansion, and over the weekend it was time to work on her staircase.

The Loose Women panellist, 31, took to her Instagram stories on Sunday afternoon to show how she'd had the red carpet removed and painted the stairs a lighter colour.

She moved into her new home, which is called Pickle Cottage, earlier this year with her partner Joe Swash and their one-year-old son Rex, as well as her older children Zachary, 13, and Leighton, nine.

She said she didn't like how the dark stairs and the carpet made the area look "closed in" and revealed she is planning to paint them again and add some new carpet.

In her first photo, Stacey showed how the stairs had looked before she gave them a makeover.

She captioned the snap: "I can't wait to do a proper finished tap to tidy but for now..."

Stacey then added her trademark 'Tap to tidy' sticker which she uses to share before and after snaps of her DIY projects and cleaning sprees.

The mum-of-three then showed off the transformation in the next snap, but she admitted the stairs still need some work.

The bannister was in a light brown colour and the carpet had completely gone in the second picture.

Stacey revealed that she is planning to stain and treat the wood and add in a runner carpet in a light colour.

She wrote: "I love these stairs and all of the detail on them so much but the dark wood and red carpet made them feel so closed in…

"I can't wait to shine them up, treat them, and stain and maybe add a light runner and chrome rods too."

Stacey revealed that she had used a sandblaster to get the dark wooden beams back to their original colour.

She also stripped the floors of their colour.

But she admitted that using the sandblaster had left the downstairs in a bit of a wreck, with sand all around the bottom of the newly revamped stairs.

Her beloved blue bathroom, which she recently made over with some fresh tiles and a coat of turquoise paint, also had sand on the floor and in the sink in another post.

"The only problem with sandblasting - is the sand," Stacey captioned the post, adding laughing and the monkey hiding his face emojis.

"My poor blue loo got the brunt of it..."

In the next post she explained that she had kept the rest of the house protected from all the sand, but needed to keep the downstairs loo open for everyone to use.

She added: "We boarded and sealed all the rooms but this one needed access for people to go toilet so here we are."

Joe was less than impressed by the all the mess, telling her: "It's like living on a beach!"
