Stacey Solomon tipped for Strictly as BBC bosses fight to get show on air

Stacey Solomon has been tipped for the next season Strictly Come Dancing by bookies.

The Loose Women panelist, 30, who recently watched her boyfriend Joe Swash raise the Dancing On Ice trophy, could take to the ballroom in the coveted BBC competition.

According to betting agent Coral, the odds of Stacey taking part are 1-2.

A representative for the bookies recently spoke about their latest odds for the popular dance competition.

"We think that Stacey Solomon is headed for Strictly and make her odds on to be a contestant on the next series of the hit show.

"She will try and following in her namesake's footsteps after Stacey Dooley won the show in 2018," said Coral's Harry Aitkenhead.

Not long ago, Stacey appeared energetic about the thought of appearing on a future series of Strictly Come Dancing.

Speaking to Good Housekeeping, the former X Factor songstress revealed she was a huge fan of the BBC dance show.

"I love the show, I love the outfits, the routines, and how the contestants go from one to 1,000," she admitted.

However, she also admitted she wasn't too confident in her dancing talents.

"But I would be the one that didn't get it… Everybody would expect me to go on this journey, but I would be persistently the same after 10 weeks! I would just stay the same!"

The rumour of Stacey's Strictly appearance came amid fears that the next season of the BBC show - which usually boasts a live audience - was in jeopardy because of the coronavirus crisis.

Judges Craig Revel Horwood was hopeful the show would return (PA)

Despite recent concerns, Strictly Come Dancing bosses are said to be in talks with two A-listers about appearing on the upcoming series.

The Strictly judge Craig Revel Horwood, who recently announced his engagement to his partner Jonathan Myring, also remained hopeful about the autumn series.

The 55-year-old flamboyant judge said bosses would "move heaven and earth" to ensure the show continued, but it is likely the show could have a smaller crew and possibly no audience.
