Stacey Solomon shares simple hack to make DIY baby sleeping nest

Stacey Solomon has revealed a simple hack that makes newborn daughter Rose feel 'like she's having a cuddle'.

The Loose Women star shared a picture of sleeping Rose on her Instagram stories and was immediately inundated with questions from her loyal followers about the baby's "sleeping nest".

But the 31-year-old revealed Rose was not in a sleeping nest, but in fact, the savvy mum -of-four had simply rolled up a blanket and cushioned it around Rose, fooling the snoozing baby into thinking she was still in her mother's arms.

Stacey told her fans: "Loads of you asking where this nest is from....it's not a nest, it's just a rolled up blanket."

The former X factor star, who has almost five million followers, went on to explain she only does the blanket trick when she is supervising her baby, after concerns over sleeping nests not being safe for babies.

She said: "I don't do this in her cot or at bedtime. Just during the day and only when I'm watching her. i use a blanket rolled up in a sausage shape so she feels like she's having a cuddle and that way I can set my arms free for a minute."

Stacey's comments come after leading baby charity The Lullaby Trust said, despite some huge baby brands selling sleeping pods, they have been proven to not be safe amid fears they can lead to cot death.

The Lullaby Trust has warned: "Some popular sleeping products for babies do not conform to safer sleep guidelines.

"Items such as cushioned sleeping pods, nests, baby hammocks, cot bumpers, pillows, duvets and anything that wedges or straps a baby in place can pose a risk to babies under 12 months.

"Evidence shows that sleeping a baby on anything but a firm, flat surface, or using soft, heavy bedding, can increase the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).

"They can lead overheating or potentially obstruct a baby’s airway if they roll or their face becomes covered by loose bedding."

Stacey and fiancé Joe Swash welcomed baby Rose last month, making her the first daughter for the couple.

The pair already share son Rex, two and Stacey has sons Zachary, 13 and Leighton, nine from previous relationships while Joe has a 14-year-old son Harry from a former relationship.
