Stacey Solomon shares amazing DIY home transformation as she revives drab fireplace

Stacey Solomon continues impressing us all as she updates fans on the refurbishment of son Rex’s fireplace.

The star’s son was sleeping and she took the opportunity to fix up the fireplace in his room as it is ‘small and hopefully achievable.'

She shared a clip of Rex’s basically empty room to her Instagram Stories and walked towards the old school fireplace.

“Rex has fallen asleep and I know he’ll want to do the veggies with me so I’ll wait for him and instead start his room,” she captioned the clip.

“I’m starting with the fireplace because it’s small and hopefully achievable.”

The second clip showed the Loose Women panelist wiping the fireplace as well as the tiling around it before she got started.

However, she momentarily got distracted after Rex suddenly woke up, “ran in and made a nice big footprint in it.”

She had begun the process of using tile paint to cover the original white tiles with a darker colour.

The star, who is engaged to Joe Swash, then showed a video of Rex’s little footprint on the fresh tile paint.

“Anywhere I went over the lines I just wiped with a damp cloth,” she wrote. “The carpet is coming up so it’s my dust sheet for now.”

She went on to explain she went for something more neutral as the fireplace had a lot of patterns and designs going on.

Stacey showed the before and after, which had the fireplace covered in floral tiles and a brown wooden mantle.

The after picture had the mantel painted a light grey and the tiles a matte black.

“It looks very silver where the paint is wet but it’s actually a really nice Matt grey when it dries,” Stacey explained.

“Also imagine the breast painted and the skirtings changed, it’ll look right eventually. One thing at a time.”
