Stacey Solomon opens up on long battle with debilitating condition

ITV Loose Women star Stacey Solomon has opened up about her struggles dealing with a condition which many of us experience.

The 31-year-old says she has struggled with Imposter Syndrome for years, and has at times found it difficult to deal with.

Imposter Syndrome is not classed as a mental illness, but can be incredibly debilitating for sufferers.

Stacey told the Irish Independent: "This goes back to the X Factor. I couldn't believe where I was.

"When I was on it, they did these masterclasses, and it was people that I'd grown up idolising like George Michael, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston.

"And I just couldn't believe what the hell I was doing and when it was over, I thought, 'OK, this is enough for me,' and every year after that, every venture, every opportunity I've ever been given, I almost have like a slight imposter syndrome."

Stacey continued: "When you've grown up with limited resources, there's almost a narrative that everything's unlikely and the odds are against you.

"I guess then, if things start to happen, you immediately think, 'Do I even deserve this?' I really work hard to teach the boys that nothing is certain."

The admission comes ahead of Stacey's new show - Sort Your Life Out - which will hit screens later this year.

Speaking about the show, she revealed: "I never in a million years thought I'd get the chance to go into people's homes and help them upcycle, organise and sort everything out.

"It's an absolute dream come true… So I'm over the moon that I'm finally allowed to say, after filming a pilot taster over a year ago, it's actually happening.

"I know it wouldn't have been commissioned if it wasn't for you all supporting me and giving me the best confidence boost ever."

According to verywellmind.com, Imposter Syndrome is believing you are not as competent at something as others perceive you to be.
