Stacey Solomon jokes her newborn looks like a 'little onion' as she cuddles with son Leighton

Stacey Solomon has joked that her newborn son “looks like an onion” in a sweet video with “big brother” Leighton.

The Loose Women regular gave birth to her third child, her first with partner Joe Swash, last month, several weeks early.

And with the pair yet to reveal the name, Solomon and her middle child – seven-year-old Leighton – have come up with their own sweet name for the new arrival.

“He looks like a little onion,” Leighton said.

Solomon questioned his comparison before conceding: “He does look like a little onion.”

Last week, Solomon told fans she was “crying happy tears” as she settled down to watch Loose Women as the panel celebrated what was supposed to be her on-air baby shower.

“No matter how intense these after birth pains are I’m smiling from ear to ear watching my family at @loosewomen celebrate my baby shower without me,” she tweeted. “Me and baby are so grateful to have you all in our lives we love you. I’m crying happy tears.”

Earlier in the show, the panel shared an image of Solomon breastfeeding her newborn son before reading out a statement from the star herself.

It read: “I was so looking forward to my baby shower today. Gutted I can’t be there, but me and baby are watching from home which feels even more special now. Thanks so much I love you all.

“The first place I’m going when I can put some normal pants on and walk properly is to the Loose Women studios.”

Solomon had given birth hours before on the Thursday morning with 37-year-old Swash announcing the happy news that evening.

Alongside a snap of Solomon cradling their son in hospital, Swash praised his “super human” girlfriend and thanked fans for their support.

“This morning. A lot earlier than planned I watched the love of my life, bring a new life into the world. We are overwhelmed, overjoyed and apprehensive of what’s to come. Mummy and baby are well and resting,” he wrote.

“I’m lost for words to describe how I’m feeling. So for now, I’m going to spend the next few days and the rest of my life falling more in love with these two humans.”

He finished his emotional statement by saying he was “forever in awe” of Solomon, hailing her “his love and his life”.
