Stacey Solomon emotional as she rescues home DIY project after unexpected blunder

Stacey Solomon has been sharing updates as she ticks renovation jobs off her to-do list at her new home.

And on Wednesday evening, the Loose Women presenter, 31, revealed that she completed a task in son Rex's playroom that has taken her a few days.

She spent the afternoon coating a corner of the room with special chalkboard paint so that the toddler - who she shares with fiance Joe Swash - is able to scribble to his heart's content.

The former X Factor sensation detailed all the stages of the tricky project as she framed the drawing zone and designated a special shelf for the chalkboard eraser and sticks of chalk - which was not straightforward due to an unexpected blunder.

Stacey explained on her Instagram Stories that the task was tricky due to the "watery and drippy" paint and then had to think fast after some of the grey paint bled, even though she applied masking tape in a bid to prevent the mishap.

In order to conceal the defective surface, she then decided to use some spare skirting board in order to frame the drawing space.

Filming the entire process, that saw her showcase her handy skills, the TV favourite shared: "So it took a few days but I’ve done it."

Telling how the paint took a while to dry, she added: "Even after some serious shaking and storing this paint is so watery and drippy. So I brushed it all on. 2 coats."

Listing out the steps, and how she was faced with an unexpected step, she then penned atop of a snap of the work: "Dries for 2 days, peeled off tape, it bleed a little so decided to use some leftover skirting for a boarder, glued it on."

Stacey then posted a clip of her hanging a corner shelf and wrote: "Added floating corner shelf, used pencil holder stickers to hold the chalk."

When she completed the project she posted an adorable video of Rex using the board and admitted that she was super proud of her work as she wrote atop of the upload: "I’m emotional again for no reason and he absolutely loves it!"

Stacey is one savvy shopper and over the weekend the mother-of-three proved that she knows how to bag a bargain as she showed off the results of her day of painting and told her fans how the supplies she used - including paint, tape and stickers - totted up to around £50.

Stacey has selected a black, white and grey theme for little boy Rex's bedroom which features cute animal details and star-shaped light fittings.
