Stacey Solomon has been refreshingly honest about her feelings after losing out on a BAFTA at Sunday’s awards. The Loose Women star had been nominated for Best Entertainment Performance for her work on Sort Your Life Out, but the gong went to Rob and Rylan’s Grand Tour.
Taking to Instagram the following day, Stacey shared her thoughts with her fans while working in her garden at Pickle Cottage, the home she shares with her husband Joe Swash and their kids. “Good morning from the veg patch, about to do the morning water. We didn’t win a BAFTA and I know I’m supposed to take it gracefully like a champ but I’ll be honest, I’m devastated,” she said, clearly still feeling the disappointment, reported the Daily Record.
Stacey continued, admitting she wasn’t handling the loss very well. “I’m not handling it very well, I’m not taking it very gracefully,” she said. “I’m devastated for our whole team like I’m so gutted for our team. Everyone got dressed up and were really hopeful because I think because they work so hard.”
The mum of five explained just how much effort goes into making Sort Your Life Out, and how her team deserved to win. “It’s not an easy show to make, Sort Your Life Out, and the team works so hard to make it happen, and they so deserve a BAFTA. The Sort Your Life Out team deserves a BAFTA and I’m devastated,” she added.
Despite her feelings of disappointment, Stacey was quick to acknowledge that she didn’t begrudge other winners their success. “I’m not saying that everyone else didn’t deserve their BAFTAs, they absolutely did,” she said. “People think making TV is really easy and it’s not, so everyone deserves recognition. But I’m just gutted for the whole Sort Your Life Out family because I do feel like they deserve a BAFTA, I’m going to say. I’m gutted.”
Looking casual in a Nike sweater and blue shorts, Stacey went on to praise the Sort Your Life Out team for their dedication. She explained the incredible amount of work that goes into each episode, with the crew packing up an entire house and turning it around in just seven days. “We make sure it doesn’t get chucked away. We donate, we recycle, we resell things and put it all back and put in systems to help families move forwards,” she said.
She also shared how difficult it is for the families who appear on the show, giving up so much to let cameras into their homes during tough times. Stacey ended the video by shaking her hose around in frustration before laughing, expressing how proud she was of her team. “Best people I know,” she said. “Rant over.”
