Stacey Solomon celebrates one year at Pickle Cottage - a look back at her renovations

Stacey Solomon has reflected on one year with her family at Pickle Cottage.

The Loose Women star said it was exactly 12 months today that she, fiance Joe Swash, their children and dogs moved in to their £1.2 million dream home in Essex.

Sharing a throwback post on Instagram, she told her 5.1 million followers: “On this day one year ago... Me, Joe, Harry, Zach, Leighton, Rex, Theo and Peanut moved into Pickle Cottage.”

Writing over a video of youngest son Rex running around in their huge garden, the 32-year-old mum-of-four added: “Never could we ever imagine what an adventure it would be.”

She continued: “It doesn’t feel like a year, it feels like yesterday. We are still as excited & in love with it as we were on this first day.

"13 years of saving and searching to find our Pickle Cottage & it’s been such a privilege to have the chance to bring it back to life."

Addressing her legions of fans, Stacey said: “And you’ve all been there every step of the way. What an adventure. With still so much more to do.

"I hope you’ve enjoyed sharing this journey with us, as we’ve just loved being on it.”

Stacey recently said it would take a full three years to renovate the cottage exactly as she wanted it. Here we look back on what she has done so far.

Just before she gave birth to five-month-old daughter Rose at Pickle Cottage, Stacey shared she had just completed hers and Joe’s master bedroom.

The TV star made the space the ultimate retreat with a freestanding bath placed under the window.

She completed the sleeping area with a huge double bed, white walls with sunken shelves and has just renovated a walk-in wardrobe.

Sharing before and after snaps of the room, Stacey revealed all the special touches she had added, such as crisp bedding, plush throws, plump pillows, floral displays of pampas and rows of candles. It’s a bedroom of dreams!

Stacey wanted a girly room for her and baby Rose, who are the only women in the house.

So she created a pink nursery for her little one, including installing a flower wall she made herself with faux roses.

The busy mum spent hours carefully glueing the artificial blooms in place and finished of the area with a large mirror in the centre and velvey nursing chair.

Sharing a gallery of the finished room on social media, a proud Stacey wrote: "Our Baby Girl's Room - done."

This might sound like a disaster on paper, but as always, Stacey has created a stylish space, while letting her kids have some fun with it.

Sharing pics of youngest son Rex’s dinosaur bathroom, she revealed she had transformed the wood-panelled room into a chic black and white bathroom.

Two-year-old Rex was delighted there were dinosaur touches everywhere, from the towel hooks to the dinosaur hand soap holder.

Stacey said: “Dino bathroom done. Rex, you melt my whole heart. I've loved making dino bathroom so, so much.”

Living room with secret door

While sprucing up her living room, Stacey revealed she had found a secret door in Pickle Cottage.

Sharing a video of how her front room looked when she moved in, Stacey pans the camera round to reveal a large blue sofa and traditional fire place.

The room has since been transformed with a new wooden floor, bright whitewashed walls and neutral furniture – a brave move with four little ones.

But she said it was the secret door, which used to be the window to the kitchen, she is most excited about.

She told fans: "I don't know why I want to live in a real life Harry Potter world, but I do. I really want to knock this through and make a secret wall to the kitchen where you can pull a secret book and it opens."
