Stacey Dooley's hit BBC programme cancelled after just TWO series

Entertainment show This is MY House has been axed by the BBC after two outings.

The BBC One series, originally fronted by Stacey Dooley, saw stars having to guess who the genuine owner of a home was, out of four contenders.

One was telling the truth, the other three imposters - played by actors - were lying,

There was a prize of £1,000 for the homeowner if a panel of celebrities could pick them out from the crowd.

The 2021 series, described by Dooley as “total escapism”, was created and executive produced by Richard Bacon, for Expectation TV. He has recently set up his own television company.

Dooley, who is dating former Strictly pro Kevin Clifton, did not appear in the second series, which saw her role performed by a voiceover and the episodes shortened to half an hour.

At the time, the BBC said the show had "evolved" with "more amazing houses and bizarre humour".

Yesterday a BBC spokesman told the Mirror: “Sometimes difficult decisions have to be made, so whilst there will be not be another series of This is MY House on BBC One and iPlayer, we would like to extend our thanks to Richard Bacon and the entire team at Expectation plus all our celebrity sleuths for two series of the show.”

The celebs who took part included Harry Hill, Alison Hammond and Richard Madeley.

Last year Ricky Hatton, Claire Richards, Deborah Meaden and Robert Rinder took part in a celebrity special for Comic Relief.

When it launched in 2021 the series had rave reviews, with one critic giving it five out of five stars and describing it as "all the best bits of Big Brother, Through the Keyhole and Would I Lie to You?”
