Stacey Dooley quit Twitter and described the "abusive relationship" she had with trolls online.
The 34-year-old TV presenter said that the world of social media became too much for her and the mean comments consumed her.
Stacey told You magazine that she feels much better after deleting her account last month and moving on with her life without the constant stream of negativity.
Opening up about what she faced online, Stacey said: "I feel so much better for it.
"I said to Kev, there were some days where I’d get up and the first thing I’d do is look at my phone and read something not very pleasant about myself.
"And then when I went to bed, the last thing I’d do is look at my phone and read another negative comment."
She went onto explain that if someone had said those things to her in real life, she wouldn't have allowed it.
Stacey added: "So I’d be starting and finishing the day reading unkind things about myself.
"And I think, if that was a person saying it in my bed, I’d be in an abusive relationship and I wouldn’t put up with it."
Now that she is older, Stacey said she cares less about what people think of her than she would when her career began.

Appear on TV for the first time when she was 20-years-old, Stacey said: "Certainly, over the past couple of years, my life has changed in quite a significant way. I’d just turned 20 when I did my first TV gig.
"I’m 34 now. The last three or four years, I’ve sort of found my flow and I feel less a***d about what people think of me."
Stacey has now been in a relationship with dancer Kevin Clifton for the last two years and she says this has helped her new mindset.
The couple met when they were paired together on Strictly Come Dancing - which they went on to win.

Raving about her boyfriend previously, Stacey said: "He is an angel. He is the kindest man I’ve met."
The couple quickly moved in together, first into Stacey's swish flat and more recently into their very own house in west London which they're gradually renovating.
And they regularly share updates of from their blissful bubble with fans, enjoying candle lit dinners and ordering curries after lazy days in bed.
They're also fans of an adorable shout-out, with Kevin paying tribute to his 'Queen' on her birthday, while Stacey shared a close-up of Kevin's side profile with the caption: "Obsessed".
