'Stabbing' in Glasgow as man rushed to hospital and cops tape off street

A man has been rushed to hospital after a 'stabbing' on a street in Glasgow.

Emergency services raced to Maryhill Road near the junction with Bilsland Drive after the alarm was raised at around 5.40pm on Thursday, January 13.

Ambulance crews attended and a man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.

His condition is not yet known.

Local residents claimed a stabbing took place following a disturbance.

One local said: "It was a stabbing I heard. I was in the shop."

A second resident said: "It was a stabbing."

One local who witnessed the incident said: "We drove past it at about 6pm and there were three ambulances and all sorts of police.

"Someone definitely been stabbed."

A fourth said: "Something happened in the close next to the shop on Maryhill road. It's all taped off, police everywhere."

Police say their enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We can confirm that officers were made aware of a disturbance on Maryhill Road in Glasgow around 5.40pm on Thursday, January 13.

“A man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment to injuries and enquiries into the incident remain ongoing.”
