A man and woman were stabbed multiple times before running into a police station “covered in blood”.
Emergency services were called to Ganworth Road Police Station in Speke at around 4pm after reports that two people had been attacked on a nearby road.
It is believed that the couple were stabbed on Alderwood Avenue, at around 3.55pm, before running to the station for help.
The man, in his 40s, had several stab wounds to his arm and torso, while the woman, also in her 40s, suffered a stab wound to her right arm.
Both have been taken to hospital for treatment to their injuries.
A witness who was in the area at the time told the ECHO : “A man has just ran into Ganworth Road Police Station covered in blood.
"I think he’s been stabbed.
“The blood was everywhere.”
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: “The offender is described as being white, in his 30s, around 6ft tall.
"He had dark hair and was wearing grey shorts and a grey t-shirt.”
Chief Inspector Phil Thompson said: “This incident occurred on a residential street and we believe a number of people may have seen or heard part of the incident.
"I would urge those individuals to come forward.
“Knife crime is simply unacceptable and this incident has again shown how destructive carrying a knife can be.
“CCTV, witness and forensic enquiries are ongoing and I would ask anyone with information, or possible dashcam footage from the area, to please get in touch. Your information could prove vital to the investigation.”
