'St Totteringham's Day is on' - Arsenal fans gleeful as Tottenham suffer late Liverpool defeat

Arsenal will go above Tottenham in the Premier League if they beat Newcastle United tomorrow night.

And that did not seem likely last month, when Spurs were challenging for the title.

But Mauricio Pochettino's men have picked up just one point in their last five games, losing four away games on the spin.

The most recent of which was a cruel 2-1 reverse at the hands of Liverpool at Anfield, with a Toby Alderweireld own goal in the last minute, following a mistake from Hugo Lloris handing the Reds all three points.

Spurs had, arguably, played their best football during that run of bad results, but the pressure is now on in the battle for the top four.

Tottenham remain in third place, but are just one point ahead of Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea now.

And with the Gunners playing their game in hand at home to Newcastle United on Monday night football, they can go ahead of their north London rivals in the table.

Spurs have finished ahead of Arsenal in each of the last two seasons, meaning something called St Totteringham's Day was cancelled.

'Absolutely disgusted' - Arsenal, Spurs and Man United fans blast referee as Chelsea snatch win

That is the name given by Arsenal fans to the day that Spurs can no longer reach the same number of points as them, meaning they are guaranteed to finish below them in the table.

But after the defeat to Liverpool, that day could be on this season, and the Arsenal fans are loving it.
