St. Rita running back Kaleb Brown commits to Ohio State

St. Rita’s Kaleb Brown, the top prospect in the state’s Class of 2022, gave an oral commitment to Ohio State on Monday. Brown is currently on a campus visit in Columbus.

Brown is a two-time Sun-Times All-Area selection. He averaged 10.3 yards per carry and scored five touchdowns in the Mustangs’ six games this spring.

He primarily plays running back for St. Rita but is considered a future receiver. Brown caught eight passes for 125 yards and one touchdown this past season.

Brown is a top 60 player in the national Class of 2022 he also had scholarship offers from Alabama and Michigan.

“He’s unbelievable,” St. Rita linebacker Michael Gaughan said after a win against Notre Dame. “I’m really proud of him, how he stepped up this season. He was a little nervous last year as a sophomore but he was a leader this year. He’s going to be something special. It’s his team next year and I can’t wait to see what he does.”

Brown led the Mustangs to a 5-1 season, the only loss was a 7-3 defeat to Loyola in Week 1. It was the only close game the top-ranked, undefeated Ramblers played all season.
