St. Patrick’s Athletic set to swoop for Malta International Kyrian Nwoko

St. Patrick’s Athletic look set to bolster their attack ahead of the top of the table clash with Shamrock Rovers as they are reportedly interested in signing Maltese striker Kyrian Nwoko on loan.

The attacker currently plays for Valetta in Malta but it is believed that he is in the pipeline for a medical at the Dublin club later this week.

Nwoko looked nailed on for a move north to Danske Bank Premiership Champions Linfield earlier this month.

It is understood the Belfast club had trouble getting the deal over the line due to implications surrounding Brexit and the signing of overseas players which meant Nwoko could not make the switch to Northern Ireland.

That has played into the hands of St. Pat’s as far as the deal is concerned as they look set to strengthen their attack by signing the 24-year-old who has represented his country 20 times and has scored against Faroe Islands, Latvia ad Gibraltar within the last couple of years.

The Inchicore club are in the hunt for the league title as they remain deadlocked at the top of the table alongside Shamrock Rovers on 41 points and it is believed that Pats have high hopes for Nwoko.

The Saints travel to Tallaght on Friday evening to take on Rovers in the top of the table clash but it remains unclear if Nwoko will be a part of the matchday panel if he signs on loan as it would depend on international clearance.

The 24-year-old is tall in stature and plays as a target man but has also played on the wings for Valetta and his previous club St. Andrews, who are also from Malta.
