St Pat's stuck in Bulgaria due to flight issues as Shelbourne clash in doubt

St Pat's are still stuck in Bulgaria and there is uncertainty as to whether Sunday’s clash with Shelbourne will go ahead.

The Saints celebrated a famous 1-0 win over CSKA Sofia in Thursday night’s Europa Conference League third qualifying round, first-leg clash.

But a charter flight that was due to take them home to Dublin fell through.

Some Irish clubs and their visiting European opponents have experienced extensive travel disruption because of unavailable slots at Dublin airport.

Attempts today to secure another charter from Sofia failed to yield a result.

And the Saints are now trying to book over 30 players, staff and officials onto scheduled flights tomorrow.

St Pat’s, who beat NS Mura of Slovenia on penalties last week, are due to play Shelbourne in a league game at Tolka Park on Sunday at 5.00pm.
