St Pat's boss Stephen O'Donnell adjusting to big changes in his life

Stephen O'Donnell was going to put the feet up and watch tonight’s potential title decider on TV.

But then he remembered that his life has just been turned upside down following the arrival of his first child.

“Oh Jesus yeah,” he said when the penny dropped. “I didn't even think. I won't be watching anything tonight!

“I'm still in single mode, that it's just myself and the missus. I won't be watching it!.”

O’Donnell’s wife, Michelle, had a girl on Friday morning but O’Donnell was back in the dugout that night for St Pat’s 0-0 draw with Shamrock Rovers.

After three games, the rookie boss remains unbeaten in management after two draws and a win.

But the former Dundalk captain and until earlier this month their opposition analyst and coach, will still keep an ear out for the Oriel Park result.

Yet while he wants the club he represented with distinction to win the league, O’Donnell claims he won’t be emotionally invested.

“I'm fully focused on St Pat's now,” he said. “I have a duty and a job to do at St Pat's and that's where all my attention is gone.

“Tonight is a side issue for me. My whole attention will be turning to Waterford at home in two weeks time.

“My whole thought for the last three weeks has been getting St Pat's in the best possible shape and condition that I possibly can.”
