St Mirren weighing up move for Slovakian goalkeeper as potential Vaclav Hladky replacement

St Mirren are running the rule over Slovakian goalkeeper Peter Urminsky.

The 20-year-old, who was recently on loan at AS Trenčín from parent club FC Spartak Trnava, was at Ralston yesterday training with the Buddies main squad.

With current number one Vaclav Hladky expected to leave St Mirren when his contract expires in the summer, gaffer Jim Goodwin is keen to find a replacement early to cover all eventualities in the future.

He told Express Sport: “We’re still looking at him.

“He’s here for the rest of the week and then we’ll make a decision on that one.

“We’re looking at him more as a link between the academy and the full team.

“He wouldn’t be coming in as a first team goalkeeper straight away, if we do choose to do something about him.

“The two boys we’ve got have been excellent, so we’re very lucky to have those two.

“I don’t think I could have a better number two than Dean Lyness.

“We’re preparing because we can’t pre-empt what’s going to happen with Vaclav, so we’ve got to do our job and look at as many as we can in the meantime.”
